Everyday, residents and visitors enjoy spending time in the squares, whether it’s to enjoy a cup of morning coffee, meet some friends for lunch, enjoy a book or just relax and enjoy the surroundings. From Conservancy sponsored events, to annual events like the Flower Mart and the Monument Lighting, as well as neighborhood events—there’s always a lot going on in and around Mount Vernon Place.
SUMMER IN THE SQUARES: It’s all FREE!
Thursday Concerts: Each Thurs. June-August, fun concerts and performances. MVP Movie Nights: On the 4th Thurs. June-August, a summer blockbuster screening. Art in the Park: A series of free art classes held outdoors. RSVP required. Yoga: FREE weekly yoga class on Sat. mornings – all levels. Walking Tours: Co-sponsored with Baltimore Heritage & Baltimore National Heritage Area. |

The Conservancy’s other seasonal events include an annual Halloween party for kids, an Easter Egg Hunt, and Deck the Squares, a winter morning event when volunteers decorate Mount Vernon Place’s park squares with festive holiday greenery.

Annual FestivalsMount Vernon Place is host to Baltimore traditions like the Flower Mart and the Lighting of the Monument. Flower Mart is a free festival usually held the first Friday and Saturday of May. The Flower Mart is steeped in tradition, and has been held in Mount Vernon Place since 1911. It features a multitude of flowers for purchase, arts and crafts vendors, children’s programming, and delicious food! It’s also home of the legendary “lemon stick,” another Baltimore tradition. There are lots of activities, contests, and other fun events to make this a wonderful outing for families! As of Flower Mart 2019, the festival is managed by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. Things To Do Around Mount Vernon Place
Mount Vernon Place is the centerpiece of a National Historic Landmark District, and part of Baltimore’s famous Mount Vernon neighborhood. Around the squares are stunning examples of 19th century architecture. As Baltimore’s historic cultural center, Mount Vernon is home to internationally-recognized art museums, opera halls, libraries, historical museums, theatres and symphony orchestras as well as fabulous restaurants—which all contribute to its rich cultural fabric.
