Flower Mart 2020

Flower Mart at Mount Vernon Place, May 1 & 2, 2020!

This year, once again, the annual Flower Mart festival will be managed by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. The Conservancy was formed to enter into a public/private partnership with the City of Baltimore to restore and maintain the Washington Monument and the parks squares of Mount Vernon Place.

With its long history, Flower Mart is part of the traditions of Mount Vernon Place, and the oldest ongoing festival in the city of Baltimore. When it was begun in 1911 it was mounted to encourage home gardens, with the planting of flowers and vegetables, as well as to encourage growing these plants on vacant lots in the city. The Conservancy continues to champion this mission of urban greening, as relevant today as in 1911, in its planning of next year’s festival.

“In addition to the plants, I loved the food options, decorations, and music. The scale of the event felt very relaxed.” ~Arsenic Media

Volunteers have been a part of the Flower Mart since its begining in 1911, and continue to be critical to its success. A call for volunteers will be sent in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned!

I volunteered at the Lemon Stick stand and everyone seemed to enjoy them very much! We also had a fun time working the stand with the Mt. Vernon Girlsquad! I came back after my shift and enjoyed a glass of wine, the jazz, and a falafel wrap!” ~Volunteer

The Conservancy is looking for sponsors for this century-old Baltimore tradition. Conservancy concessions and vendor fees only cover a portion of the costs of this free public festival. Sponsorships are a key element in presenting this city-wide event, year after year. Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available for several levels of support.
