Central in my Life
July 10th, 2020
The monument and surrounding area were a central place in my childhood. My grandmother lived in an upstairs apartment in a brownstone down the street from the Methodist church (which she attended). I have a memory of looking down on the flower mart from her living room windows. Later in her life my she lived in the high rise senior housing across the street from Walters Art Gallery where I spent many hours. My parents had been married in the church, and my grandmother’s funeral was held there as well.
